One extra day. It is what many of us always wish for. Why not celebrate the Leap Year and roll that extra day into a weekend getaway trip to Alexandria? The cool bonus is that for those who are okay with spring arriving in its appointed slot in early April, winter may actually arrive in Alexandria today. Yep, snowflakes, lots of them.

Does it seem like 2012 is speeding by for you? It sure seems like many people are feeling that way, especially those who are charged with planning corporate meetings. I was reminded of this recently. The reminder came via a text received Monday morning at 7 am. “Budget approved – need location with two hour driving frame that feels like a retreat- help?” was the message. It is one of those things you do not hear about every day so it is understandable that my memory failed me at first. For weeks now, I would stare out my kitchen window in amazement as the coffeemaker brewed away. The moon was still up in the western sky white and bright shining on the icy lakes of Alexandria.

The texting lady told me that her weekend getaway plan had all started with a simple New Year’s resolution.
