ALEXANDRIA CHAIN OF LAKES
This popular and amazing 1700+ acre basin is comprised of Lake Le Homme Dieu, Lake Carlos and Lake Geneva which are all navigable by channel. Home to popular bass tournaments each year, the chain offers good water quality and clarity with two large public accesses on Le Homme Dieu – Rotary Beach on the northwest shoreline and Krueger’s Creek on the northeast end. Lots of diverse angling prospects abound on this body of water.
LAKE IDA
Home to a complex fish community, Ida is a large clear lake with three public accesses. Of note is the fishing success that can be enjoyed with largemouth and smallmouth bass. Pan fish anglers can expect a plentiful supply of bluegill.
LAKE MILTONA
Another large clear-watered lake, Miltona is home to a distinctive muskellunge fishery offering lots of trophy potential. Three public accesses are available. Half of Lake Miltona is at a depth of 15 feet or less, featuring shallow flats and submerged islands and bars which support a varied fish population from walleye to bass to sunfish.
MAPLE LAKE
This moderate size lake enjoys excellent water clarity and features a varied aquatic plant community. Two public accesses are available with a public fishing pier on the north shore adjacent near that public access. Largemouth bass and pike are dominated by smaller fish evidenced by plentiful harvests of bluegill and black crappie.
LAKE MINNEWASKA
Another popular choice for bass tournaments, Lake Minnewaska is a giant of a lake offering three public accesses and two public swimming beaches. It offers a wide range of fishing opportunities with anglers catching all types of game fish from walleye to northern pike.
LAKE OSAKIS
Located at the headwaters of the Sauk River, Lake Osakis has produced some state record catches along with a reputation for growing big pan fish. Offering three public accesses and a county park on Battle Point with shore fishing sites, this lake supports a varied fish community complete with a walleye fishery.
LAKE MARY
This popular destination for local anglers offers two public accesses along with good water quality. Lake Mary has a large rock and gravel bar on the north side which is a preferred spawning area for walleye. Many game fish are present including: perch, bass, sunfish, and black crappie.
BIG CHIPPEWA
Managed for walleye, “Big Chip” is a large lake with good water quality. There is a public access on the northeast shore with limited parking. There is also quality fishing on the adjacent lakes that comprise the Upper Chippewa chain of lakes. This lake also offers good supply of largemouth bass and sunfish; large pike are also present.
LOBSTER LAKE
Named for its unique shape featuring many points, arms and bays, Lobster Lake is a popular destination for fishing. There is one public access on the very southwestern end of the lake. Lobster Lake is a productive lake presenting largemouth bass, black crappie, bluegill and northern pike along with stocked walleye and muskellunge. This means trophy potential combined with excellent family fishing given the above average catch rate of pan fish.
LAKE RENO
Offering two public accesses on the northeast and southwest shores, Lake Reno is a large lake known for good walleye fishing.
