Just received the latest newsletter from Dave Ramsey, America’s favorite financial maestro; it contains an interesting article about vacations. Naturally, he recommends that everyone make their vacation a budget line item. Many families already do just that. They follow the habit where you put a little aside every month to create a fund which is ready to be tapped when the relax urge strikes and the sunshine beckons. Ramsey calls it the “envelope system.” Many of our grandparents only lived that way – setting aside money for things you need and want. Best idea ever. His next two tips are where budget helping Alexandria, MN certainly shines in light of Ramsey’s advice. He says:
The internet makes it ridiculously easy to do a ton of research before you ever spend the first dime on your trip. Reviews. Photos. Travel deals. It’s all out there, just waiting for you. This is really a no-brainer. Don’t book a trip without knowing all the details related to the property, the cost, everything. This is Vacation 101.
Yep. Vacation 101 certainly begins at www.explorealex.com . But, what else should one consider? Ramsey goes on with the counsel that vacation expectations are important whether planning to stay at a resort, hotel or campground. You need to have your expectations decided ahead of time, and I would add you need to pick a location that will meet those expectations. Great expectation abound when you find a location that is an easy drive on one tank of gas to a spot that feels like a world away and is easy on the vacation envelope. Next, reading between the lines, it makes sense that having choices is important when choosing a vacation destination that will fit your budget. Again, Alexandria can do that for you. Lodging options for every budget, activities galore and the best “easy to get to” location ever.
So, take Dave Ramsey’s advice today. Commence with your Vacation 101 research, lock down on all of the details, beef up that budget by feeding the envelope marked “vacation” and pick Alexandria as a vacation destination we are sure Dave Ramsey would approve of!
